Man electrocuted after climbing atop moving train at Panagarh station

A routine stop of the Vibhuti Express at Panagarh station turned into a scene of chaos and panic on Saturday night when a young man was electrocuted after climbing onto the roof of the train. The youth, who was traveling in the special needs compartment from Howrah, reportedly climbed out of a window and onto the top of the carriage as the train approached the station. Passengers, who had been searching for the missing man, were horrified to discover him lying on the roof of the front carriage once the train reached the platform.

The situation escalated when the station manager and railway officials attempted to persuade the man to come down. Instead of complying, the youth began walking along the roof toward the engine. As he moved, he came into contact with the high-tension overhead electrical wires, resulting in a loud noise and a powerful shock that threw him onto the engine. Railway police and workers rushed to the scene immediately to begin a delicate rescue operation.

Following the incident, the injured youth was successfully brought down and rushed to a nearby hospital, where he is currently undergoing medical treatment. The accident caused a temporary suspension of train services on the busy Howrah-Delhi main line as officials worked to secure the area and ensure safety. Power was disconnected from the overhead lines to facilitate the rescue and investigation, leading to significant delays for other passengers.
